Ways to Save Money

Ways to save money

I am going to share with you some ways to save money. First, try not to go out to eat as much. Stay in and cook at home. This way you save money by not buying food in restaurants that are high. If you eat fast food, eat off the dollar menu. When grocery shopping, make a list and get what is only on the list. You won’t spend money on unnecessary items. If possible, use coupons to lower the price of goods. Purchase the store brand food instead of name brand food. Sometimes the name brand food is just a waste of money. Try buying just bread, sandwich meat, ramen noodles, TV dinners, and cereal for about a week and see if you can handle doing that more often. Buy in bulk when you can. It will save money in the long run. Save money by shopping at the 99-cent store, dollar tree, or whatever the equivalent is where you stay. For beverages, just drink tap water instead of buying bottled water every week. No money spent here because tap water is free (excluding the water bill). If you are a coffee drinker, make your own coffee at home instead of going to Starbucks everyday for your pick me up. You will save a lot of money doing this because buying Starbucks coffee everyday can really add up. Don’t go clothes shopping getting new school clothes. It’s a waste of money to get new clothes every semester or every year. Wear "recycled" school clothes. By that I mean wear last years school clothes. Don’t buy the name brand clothes. They cost too much money. I like shopping for clothes at Ross when I do go clothes shopping. Ross is a real money saver when it comes to clothes. On occasion, rent a couple of DVDs instead of going to the movies. Movies cost a lot of money mainly because of the cost of food. Cut or style your own hair instead of paying someone else. This saves you easy money especially the ladies. Cut your cable bill by getting basic cable instead of premium cable. You won’t be watching all of those channels so get rid of them and save money. Cut your phone bill by selecting a basic phone plan or getting a prepaid phone. Some plans are just a waste of money. Get rid of your home phone if you can rely solely on your cell phone. Make a budget. Track all of your spending to see where most of you money is going. Shop at garage sales. If you like to read, get books from the library instead of buying them. Make your lunch and bring it to work instead of buying lunch or going out to eat for lunch. Buy things online from ebay, amazon, or similar sites if they save you money. Stay in an all bills paid apartment if it is convenient for you. This helps save money because you don’t have to pay for some bills. Use unleaded gas for you car instead of super or premium, which cost way more money. If possible use public transportation or carpool. This helps save money by you not driving all the time. If your car is a gas-guzzler then downsize your car. Use cash instead of credit whenever you can. Don’t carry credit cards or a lot of cash around with you. If you do, you are more liable to spend more money than you originally planned. I have given you some ways to save money. My next lessons will be on ways to make money.
